How to avoid hitting potholes

Updated: Apr 17, 2025

Haven’t caught teens and adults for years. I’ve learned one of their biggest challenges is where to keep their eyes while driving. If your eyes are looking just over the nose or hood of the car, you don’t have much time to react to what enters your field of you.

If you move your eyes to the horizon, they expand your field of view, allowing you to see more, which gives you more time to react. I called us the cheat code for not hitting potholes.

If your eyes are up on the horizon, it only takes 1° of steering wheel changed to avoid the pothole. If you’re looking down over the hood, you have no time to avoid the pothole.

I read the post about how to avoid hitting potholes, and it made a lot of sense that slowing down, looking ahead, and steering gently can help protect your car and keep your ride smoother on rough roads. When I was working on a big university paper, I needed affordable research proposal editing to fix up my messy draft before a deadline, and that help made me feel calmer and more focused. It made me realize that careful planning and good support both make hard tasks easier.
